Quick update after a long weekend...

What a beautiful and full weekend:  the Jazz Ambassadors left for Northern New Hampshire on Friday morning @ 5 am for two full days of concerts, workshops and conversations with young people about jazz.
We spoke about peace-making through music and active listening on the bandstand as a metaphor for practicing/nourishing cultural creativity - and we played a ton of jazz!  We had a workshop on improvisation, we helped 15 young high school students work up a variety of tunes for our Friday evening concert and played in a refurbished 1930s music hall.
We also did up the town right on Friday night and then played a Saturday morning concert!  It snowed and sleeted, sometimes hovered about 5F and was a total gas.  Then Sunday was the celebration of the first day of Advent - and daughter Jesse was in from NYC.  We ate bean soup, hung up new Christmas lights and shared tea and conversation.  Worship was very upbeat, lots of children in the mix and a sweet, sweet spirit in the air.  What a full and blessed time.
